1980 MGB

Gassman Automotive is pleased to offer this extraordinary, low-mileage (53,000) overdrive 1980 MGB. This car is truly a ZERO, rust car with no damage ever. Most people are not aware that the later MGBs are in fact the best driving cars that MG has ever produced. This car has had the negatives of the late MGs removed and has been replaced with early dual SU carburetors, and early MG exhaust system and the early distributor. The car is very strong and incredibly tight with no squeaks or rattles. While this car had no body damage whatsoever the paint was quite faded and we did a bare metal respray in the original color (Carmen Red). Once we painted the car and the body looked gorgeous, we then were stuck in the rabbit hole and needed to make everything else nice. We completely gutted the entire interior and installed a new panel kit, carpets, dash, seats, door tops, arm rests, and a new Robbins top with zip out rear window. We replaced the gas tank, new fuel pump (SU), sending unit and completely rebuilt the SU carburetors. The car had an engine out complete replacement of the clutch, all new brakes to include master cylinder, calipers, brake pads, shoes, wheel cylinders and hoses. The original road style wheels were bead-blasted, painted silver and then taped off and painted black like original. New lug nuts and wheel centers were installed with a new set of Falcon high-performance tires. A full fluid change and new aluminum radiator and sender as well as new ignition switch and locking column. New wiper blades, arms, chrome bezels, and squirters were installed with a new chrome cowl grill. Everything in the car works as it should and starts immediately and runs incredibly smoothly. The aluminum radiator eliminates overheating, and the car runs quite cool with excellent oil pressure. The overdrive engages immediately and smoothly and the synchronizers in the transmission allow you to go from 4th gear at 50 mph right into second gear with no grinding whatsoever. There is no noises or howls in the rear end, the doors, hood, and trunk fit perfectly and click shut when closing. The bottom line is this is a thoroughly gone over less than 30 miles ago, by Gassman Automotive with close to $14,000 parts and labor that is ready for you to enjoy with a high level of reliability and truly wonderful sports car experience.
